Weight loss tips proven to help anyone lose weight faster! Have you ever wondered why some people can lose weight easily, while for others... weight-loss is an ongoing struggle? Or have you ever met someone who can eat whatever they want... and never gain weight? Well, the reason is because those seemingly lucky people who can easily lose weight (or eat whatever they want) have a naturally faster metabolism. That's no secret. You've probably heard that a million times. People with faster metabolisms generally aren't overweight. Of if they are, they're able to lose weight much quicker and easier than someone with a slow metabolism. But the good news is... your metabolism isn't something that's permanently stuck at one speed. Your metabolism might be in "low gear" at the moment, but... there are proven steps you can take that will speed up your metabolism - safely and effectively. But before I tell you what some of these steps are, let me first tell you what one of the biggest mistakes people make in trying to lose weight. This one mistake is the single fastest way to SLOW your metabolism down to a snail's pace. What I'm talking about is... cutting calories. Let me clarify myself. There is nothing wrong with sensibly cutting back on your calories if you're currently eating too much! But that's usually not the case with overweight people. Most overweight people are overweight because over years, they've slowly consumed slightly more calories than their bodies can burn. Even 50 calories a day can cause you to gain 5 pounds a year! What I'm talking about when I say "cutting calories" is dramatically cutting back to "mouse-sized-portions" in an attempt to lose weight. You see, the human body has a cleaver built-in defense mechanism designed to protect you from starvation, and it's triggered when you don't eat, or when you dramatically cut back on your calories. Here's how it works: when your body is accustomed to consuming a certain number of calories a day (normal daily caloric needs) and you start dramatically cutting those calories, your body thinks you are starving. Your body protests by triggering hormonal changes that slow down your metabolism to conserve calories, and protect you from starving. That's the way Mother Nature intended it to be! So if you start out on a diet program with an already "slow metabolism" (which many overweight people have), and then drastically cut calories to lose weight, guess what happens? Your metabolism will literally slow to a screeching halt! Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that slowing down an already slow metabolism is a sure-fire way to kill your weight-loss efforts! This is why virtually every calorie-cutting diet ultimately fails. Instead of the calorie-cutting approach to weight-loss, a much better and more effective way is to naturally speed up your metabolism. Your metabolism refers to the total number of calories your body burns every day. 1) Digestion, the process of eating food, breaking it down and digesting it accounts for approximately 10% of your total calories burned in a day. 2) Physical Activity (exercise and all other forms of physical activity) accounts for 20% to 40% of calories burned in a day. 3) Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), the energy we consume to keep our body functioning at rest (heartbeat, respiration, circulation and temperature regulation) accounts for 50% to 70% of our calories burned. The secret to dramatically increasing your metabolism starts with making small adjustments in all three areas: 1) Diet, 2) Exercise, and 3) Supplementation. 5 Proven Weight Loss Tips To Speed Up Your Metabolism1) Research shows that you can speed up the "Digestion" part of your metabolism simply by consuming more protein. The thermic effect of feeding (TEF) is the energy required to digest, absorb, transport and metabolize food. Consuming more protein will increase this thermic effect by as much as 42%. So while trying to lose weight, increase your protein intake. 2) Studies show that when your insulin level is elevated, it's like putting an emergency break on your body's built-in fat burning mechanism. The thing that triggers an increase in insulin is high-glycemic carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, pastries, French fries, potatoes, rice, and sweets. So right now, you can increase your body's fat burning potential simply by avoiding or eliminating high-glycemic carbohydrates from your diet. In my book Weight Loss Secrets, on page 51 there is a handy list of over 89 foods and their glycemic index. 3) In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers found that eating small, frequent meals lowered insulin levels as much as 28% compared to eating three larger meals a day. So right now, if you are accustomed to eating 2-3 large meals a day, try dividing up each individual meal into two smaller meals. This way, you'll be eating 4-6 smaller meals a day. This will regulate your insulin levels, and speed up your metabolism. 4) Exercise. Many people don't want to hear this, but yes... regular exercise IS one of the easiest ways to speed up your metabolism, and shed pounds. But... you must do the right kind of exercise. I don't recommend doing aerobics unless you do an equal amount of strength or resistance exercise. The reason is because studies show that when you diet and do aerobic exercise, as much as 35% of the weight you lose is lean muscle. This is another sure-fire way to slow down your metabolism. So if you aren't already, begin an exercise program that consists of both aerobic and strength exercise.
